Follow these steps to embed a Panopto video in a Canvas page, assignment, discussion, announcement, or anywhere else you have access to the rich content editor.
Note: When you embed a Panopto video in Canvas using the Panopto Embed button () above the rich content editor, all members of that course can view the video! This only works if you embed using this button. It will NOT work if you use the embed code found in a video's sharing settings.
- In Canvas, navigate to the content in which you want to embed a video.
-
Click Edit. In the rich content editor, place your cursor where you wish to embed a video. Then, click the Panopto Embed button () above the editor:
-
Select a folder (usually either My Folder or a folder with the naming convention "[course number] - [last name]"; see "Where Should You Upload Your Video?" for more information) from the dropdown menu at the top of the new window:
-
Click the Upload tab. Follow the prompts to upload your video. (If you already uploaded your video, skip ahead.) When you see your video listed as Processing, click Insert at the bottom right.
-
Your video may take several minutes or more to finish processing and become available for viewing, but you can continue this process while it's processing.
-
If you already uploaded your video to Panopto: Click the Choose tab. Select the folder that contains your video using the dropdown menu at the top of the window. Select the video you want to embed, then click Insert at the bottom right:
-
-
Your video will appear where you positioned the cursor inside the text editor. Save the Canvas page when you finish editing. Your embedded video will appear where you placed it on the page.
