Overview
DaVinci Resolve is a powerful color grading tool, but there’s a lot that can go wrong. Here are some common problems and how to fix them.
Force Conforming Clips in the Timeline
So you’ve imported your AAF/XML and clips in your timeline don’t automatically connect to footage in the media pool. Or, you accidentally imported proxies instead of the raw footage. Uh-oh! Luckily, there is a way to manually reconnect to the right clips.
In the Edit tab, make sure both the source clip in the media pool and the missing clip in the timeline are selected (highlighted in orange).
Right click on the clip in the timeline and select “force conform with Media Pool clip.”
MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE you know which clip it is before force conforming! If it’s the wrong clip, Resolve will force a connection anyway and mess up the entire timeline.
Image Warping, Stretching, Scaling, Cropping
If footage comes in stretched, warped, rescaled, or oddly cropped, open the soft preferences menu (gear icon in the bottom right corner) and check under Image Scaling to make sure your preferences are correct.
