New Hasselblad Flextight Workflow

New Computer for Hasselblad Scanning

The hasselblad work station has received an upgrade. We have changed the computer from the old iMac we were using to a newer Windows computer that allows for internet access and more updated functionality. Due to this switch to PC, we came up with a workflow that will allow for students to transfer their work from the hasselblad station to a regular Mac station in the lab. We wanted this work around students' external hard drives might not be configured for compatibility with PCs. If you run into the issue of your external drive not being recognized, follow the below workflow.

Hasselblad Workflow and File Transfer

  • Login to the computer with your firstname_lastname and associated Emerson password.
  • Turn the Flextight Scanner on and wait for the lights on the scanner to turn all green.
  • Launch FlexColor software.
  • Follow Camilo Ramirez's video on Flextight Scanning.
  • Save your files to the documents folder or a folder on the desktop.
  • Once you have scanned all of your images, close out of the FlexColor Software and turn off the scanner.
  • Click on the icon on the left side of the desktop called Hasselblad Share.

  • This will open a specific folder on the Emerson Server.
      • (To learn more about the Emerson Server, please refer to the linked article).
  • To upload your files, create a folder that is titled firstname_lastname.
      • Drag all of your files into the folder you created. Let all of them upload.
  • Once the files are uploaded, delete your files from the computer's hard drive and log out.
  • Move over to one of the Mac computers and login.
  • Click on Go in the toolbar when you login and click on Connect to Server.

  • This will show a window where you will see a URL that says bin.emerson.edu.
      • You can navigate to the Hasselblad Share folder two ways.
          • The first way is to enter smb://bin.emerson.edu/Courses/Hasselblad Share
              • This will open the folder directly.
          • The second way is to click Connect
              • You may be prompted to enter a password, if so, just enter your Emerson password.
              • You will see the below window once you connect, click on Courses

  • From here, you can transfer your files over to your external hard drive or to any cloud based storage systems you might use.

Please note that the Hasselblad Share folder is subject to being erased at any point. Do not permanently store your files in the server. The server folder will be wiped at the end of every semester.
