Connecting to Wireless Networks with Windows (Boston & ELA)

Connecting your Windows device to eduroam takes a one-time setup. After these steps, your device connects automatically wherever eduroam is available, including at other participating campuses worldwide.

Note: These steps cover Windows 10 and Windows 11. Older versions are no longer supported by Microsoft, are a security risk, and are not permitted on the network.

Connecting to eduroam

  1. Click the network icon in the taskbar to view available wireless networks, select eduroam, and click Connect.
  2. Enter your full Emerson email address (including @emerson.edu) and your Emerson password in the box that appears, then click OK.
  3. If Windows warns that it will send your credentials to clearpass.emerson.edu, that is our authentication server. Click Connect to continue.
  4. The network icon briefly shows a warning sign, then settles into normal reception bars once you are online. Windows reconnects automatically after this until you change your Emerson password.

Note

This server warning should appear only the first time you connect. Do not allow a connection to any server other than clearpass.emerson.edu, as it could be an attempt to capture your Emerson credentials. eduroam does not use a login web page; if you are taken to a website asking for your Emerson email and password, do not enter them and contact the Help Desk.
