Installing Avid Media Composer - Trial

To begin, click the following link:

Avid Media Composer Download

Complete the form on Avid's website and you will receive an automated email from Avid with the option to download Avid Media Composer for Mac or Windows.

Install

Locate the .dmg file (likely in your downloads) - Double click to begin the installation process

Run through the installation instructions - about halfway through, you may receive a notification reading "System Extension Blocked" - if that happens, click "open security preferences"

Next to "system software from developer 'Avid Technology Inc' was blocked" click Allow. Your installation should now continue.

When Avid finishes installing, you will need to restart your computer.

After restarting your computer, we have one more important step!

Activating Trial

When you first launch Avid, you will get a few different options to activate your software.

Select “Trial Mode” and click continue. Do not select any other options. (If you choose "Media Composer First," your projects will be incompatible.

Now you are ready to use Avid Media Composer!
