Print From Anywhere

We've placed printers all around the Boston campus so you can easily print assignments between classes. Even better, you can print supported file types directly from your laptop, phone, or other mobile devices, to any public printer without having to log into a lab or kiosk computer!

This is possible thanks to the Pharos Print mobile app and My Print Center webpage, following these basic steps:

  1. Log in to the print app/webpage.
  2. Upload your file and select your print options (number of copies, color/grayscale, etc.).
  3. Swipe your ID at the printer touchpad and choose your job to release.

Printing on the Boston campus is tied to your Emerson account, so the first thing you need to do is log in. Here's how to use the app or the webpage.

Log in to the Pharos Print app

To print from your phone or mobile device, you first need to install and log in to the Pharos Print app. (Scroll down for web browser directions.)

  1. Download the Pharos Print app for either Android   or iOS  .
  2. After Pharos Print installs, open it, enter the following information, then tap Connect.
    • Server Address: print.emerson.edu
    • Server Port: 443
  3. Enter your Emerson username (firstname_lastname or firstname.lastname) and password, then tap Log On.

Once you are logged in, you will see your print queue (My Prints) and your available printing funds.

Log into the My Print Center webpage

If you're printing from your laptop or desktop computer, you will use the My Print Center webpage instead of the mobile app.

  1. Go to print.emerson.edu/myprintcenter in your web browser.
  2. Click Login with SSO. This will bring up the Emerson Duo login page.
  3. Log in using your Emerson username (firstname_lastname or firstname.lastname) and password and the Duo authentication option of your choice.

Once you are logged in, you will see your print queue (Job List) and your available printing funds.

Upload and select print settings

Upload and print from Android or My Print Center

The steps to print from the Android app or the My Print Center webpage are practically identical. (Scroll down for iOS printing directions.)

  1. Click or tap the Upload button and select a file to upload to your Job List.
  2. Click or tap on the file(s) in your Job List that you want to print.
  3. Select your print options at the bottom of the screen:
    • Black & White (5¢/page) vs. Color (35¢/page)—required to print in color
    • Pages per side
    • Single-Sided vs. Double-Sided
    • Number of copies
    • Range of pages to print, if applicable
  4. Proceed to the printer location to release your printout.

Upload and print from iOS

Printing from iOS is a bit more roundabout than using Android or the webpage. Instead of uploading through the Pharos Print app, you will submit your job using the iOS Share feature.

Before you begin, ensure that you have completed the steps to log into the Pharos Print app above.

  1. Open the image or document file you want to print.
  2. Select the Share button (usually represented by this icon share-icon-2.png in iOS-native apps, such as Photos).
    • If printing from a Google Workspace app, such as Google Docs, select the icon, tap the Send a copy menu option and select PDF for the format.
    • If Pharos Print does not show up, select the … More icon and tap Pharos Print.
  3. Tap Print to confirm that you want to share the image or document with Pharos Print.
  4. Open the Pharos Print app. You will see any files you've uploaded in the My Prints list.
  5. Tap the file to preview the content and to change any finishing settings:
    • Single-Sided vs. Double-Sided
    • Black & White (5¢/page) vs. Color (35¢/page)—required to print in color
    • Pages per side
    • Number of copies
  6. Tap Apply Changes. The pricing on your print job will be updated in the My Prints list. (Your account will not be charged at this point.)
  7. Proceed to the printer location to release your printout.

Swipe your ID to release your job (or scan QR code, if available)

Now that your print job is uploaded and your settings have been chosen, it's time for you to release the print:

  1. Proceed to your printer of choice, making sure it is a color-capable printer if you selected to print in color.
  2. Swipe your Emerson ID and select the job you want to release. The price of the print will be listed with the filename.
  3. Tap Print. The printer will start printing, and the cost will be deducted from your ECCash/print credits balance.

Supported file types

Using Pharos Print and My Print Center is convenient for printing many—but not all—file types. Most standard documents and image files can be printed this way, such as:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) documents
  • Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • PDFs
  • Images (JPG, PNG, etc.)
  • Text files (CSV, RTF, TXT)

More specialized documents, such as Adobe files and emails need to be printed by logging into a lab or kiosk computer and following our general printing guide.
