Congratulations on your new Mac computer!
Before continuing, you must have an Emerson College Duo account set up. If you have not set up your Duo account yet, please do so before setting up your computer.
Please use the steps below to set up your machine:
- Turn on the computer using the Power button.
- Select your language/region.
- For Accessibility, select "Not Now". This can be set up later in System Settings.
- Select your wireless network and, if necessary, enter your network password.
- For Verify Certificate, Select Continue.
- You will come to a Remote Management screen. Please hit Enroll once it has loaded.
- A Duo login screen will appear. On the Duo login screen, please enter your Emerson email address and password.
- Make sure to have your 2nd factor of authentication available (typically your mobile device) and send yourself either a call, text, or Duo Push notification. When it asks "Is this your device?," select Yes, this is my device.
- The Remote Management page will appear again and run through a process to finalize the enrollment. No interaction is needed.
- Once the Remote Management process has been completed, a screen will appear to choose your time zone. At the top check off the box that says Set time zone automatically using current location. A screen will appear—click Turn on Location Services.
- Hit Continue.
- The computer will begin setup. During this step, you will not need to interact with the screen. Wait for the purple login screen to appear before logging in.
If there is a brief pause showing the traditional login screen, do not log in yet. A login screen should show up with the message: "Please wait until you can no longer see this message before signing in."
- Once the message disappears and turns into a purple login screen, please login with your Emerson username and password.
- For Accessibility, select "Not Now".
- For Data Privacy, select "Not Now".
- For Touch ID, select "Setup Touch ID Later".
- For Manage Your Look, select "Not Now".
- Wait until all of the programs listed to the right of the screen have been installed. Green checkmarks should appear next to each item. Once all items are checked off, the computer will restart.
- Let everything finalize and when the login screen appears again, you should be able to log into your account.
- A prompt will appear once you successfully log in. For "Your administrator requires that you enable FileVault," select Enable Now.
- For Enabling FileVault on your system, click OK and wait for the computer to log in completely. Your computer is now ready to use!
