Zero Touch Deployment (Mac Machines)

Congratulations on your new Mac computer!

Before continuing, you must have an Emerson College Duo account set up. If you have not set up your Duo account yet, please do so before setting up your computer.

Please use the steps below to set up your machine:

  1. Turn on the computer using the Power button.
  2. Click "Get Started"
  3. Select your language.
  4. For Accessibility, select "Not Now". IMG_8104.jpg
  5. Select your wireless network and, if necessary, enter your network password.IMG_8107.jpg
  6. For Verify Certificate, Select Continue.IMG_8108.png
  7. You will come to a Remote Management screen. Please hit Continue once it has loaded.IMG_8109.jpg
  8. A Duo login screen will appear. On the Duo login screen, please enter your Emerson email address and password.IMG_8111.jpgIMG_8112.jpg
  9. Make sure to have your 2nd factor of authentication available (typically your cell phone) and send yourself either a call, text, or Duo Push notification. When it asks Trust this browser?, select Yes, trust browser.IMG_8113.jpgIMG_8114.jpg
  10. The Remote Management page will appear again and run through a process to finalize the enrollment. No interaction is needed.
  11. A screen will appear to choose your time zone. At the top check off the box that says Set time zone automatically using current location. A screen will appear—click Turn on Location Services.IMG_8116.jpg
  12. Hit Continue.
  13. The computer will begin setup. During this step, you will not need to interact with the screen.

    If there is a brief pause showing the Catalina login screen, do not log in yet. A login Screen should show up with the message: Please wait until you can no longer see this screen.

  14. Once the message disappears and turns into a different login screen, please login with your Emerson username and password.
  15. For Accessibility, select "Not Now".
  16. For Data Privacy, select "Not Now".
  17. For Touch ID, select "Setup Touch ID Later".
  18. For Manage Your Look, select "Not Now".
  19. Wait until all of the programs listed to the right of the screen have installed. Green checkmarks should appear next to each item. Once all items are checked off, hit the Restart button below the list of programs.
  20. Let everything finalize and when the Monterey login screen appears again, you should be able to log into your account.
  21. A prompt will appear once you successfully login. For Your administrator requires that you enable FileVault, select enable now.IMG_8136.jpg
  22. For Enabling FileVault on your system, click OK. Your computer is now ready to use!IMG_8137.jpg
