Exporting and Importing Browser Bookmarks

When switching to a new web browser, backing up your old bookmarks to an HTML file is recommended. This HTML format is supported by most web browsers, making it easy to import and export your bookmarks.

How To Export Your Google Chrome Bookmarks:

  1. Open Google Chrome, Click the Customize and Control Google Chrome menu (three horizontal bars in the upper right corner.) Click Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager. image15.png
  2. Next, click the Organize menu > Export bookmarks to HTML file:image5.png
  3. Click Save.

 

How To Export Your Firefox Bookmarks:

  1.  Open Firefox, Click the Bookmarks icon image6.png > Show all Bookmarks.  image13.png
  2. The Library window will appear. Next, click the Import and Export button image10.png , then choose the option Export Bookmarks to HTMLimage12.png image8.png
  3. Click Save.  

How to Export Your Bookmarks From Safari:

  1. In Safari click File > Export Bookmarks… : image7.png image8.png
  2. Click Save.

How To Export Your Bookmarks from Edge:

Currently at this time Edge does not support the ability to export your Favorites.

  

How To Export Your Bookmarks from Internet Explorer:

    1.  Open Internet Explorer and click File > Import and Export… (If the menu bar is hidden, you can enable it by hitting the ALT key on the keyboard, or by right-clicking the top of your Internet  Explorer, and clicking Menu Bar.

  1.  Next, select Export to a file, and click Next. image4.png
  2.  Select Favorites, and click Next > Next > Export > Finish.

Importing Your Bookmarks Into Google Chrome:

  1. Open Google Chrome, click the Customize and Control Google Chrome menu (three horizontal bars in the upper right corner), click Bookmarks > Import Bookmarks and Settings… image15.pngScreen_Shot_2017-07-19_at_3.52.41_PM.png
  2. In the Organize dropdown, select Bookmarks HTML File, and click Choose File.
  3. Select the HTML file that you exported earlier, and click Open.   

Importing Your Bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox, click the Bookmarks button image6.png, and select Show All Bookmarks. image13.png
  2.  From the toolbar on the Library window, click image10.png Import and Backup and choose Import Bookmarks from HTML.image12.png
  3. Select your exported HTML file and click Open.

Importing Your Bookmarks into Safari:

  1.  Open Safari, click File > Import From > Bookmarks HTML File… : image14.png
  2.  Select your exported HTML file and click Import.

 

Importing Your Bookmarks Into Edge:

Currently at this time Edge does not support the ability to export your Favorites, but you can import bookmarks from other browsers.

  1. Open Edge, click the More Actions ellipsis (...) in the top right cornerimage16.png
  2. Then, click Settings > Import favorites from another browserimage11.pngimage18.png
  3. Then select your browser from the available list.

Currently, Edge does not offer an option to import bookmarks via .html. If you need to import your bookmarks you have already exported via .html to Edge, please follow the guide for importing bookmarks into Firefox, then this guide for importing through Edge.

 

Importing Your Bookmarks Into Internet Explorer:

    1.  Open Internet Explorer
