Reserving Computer Lab Seats through Patron Portal

Starting in the Fall of 2020, computer lab seats in the open-access labs in Ansin 111 and Walker 415 can be reserved online through the WebCheckout Patron Portal to ensure appropriate social distance, equality of access, and general sanitation. Patron Portal can be used to book a lab seat at a minimum of 30 minutes in advance of your reservation time -- for all other requests, please contact the IT Help Desk at 617-824-8080 or by putting in a ticket at it.emerson.edu

Logging In

  1. Go to the WebCheckout Patron Portal
  2. Enter your Emerson College username and password as the User ID and Password.
  3. Choose IT Lab Computers  -- If you wish to make a reservation from another checkout center available, please be aware that you will need to log in separately to do so.
  4. Please take a moment to read our message of the day, as it contains our lab hours, important announcements, and how to contact the IT Help Desk in case of questions or emergency.

 Making a New Reservation

  1. Please select from one of the two labs, either Ansin 111 (XML) or Walker 415 (APL). For a full list of the hardware and software available in each of these spaces, please refer to our Lab Hardware and Lab Software guides.
  2. To reserve any available station during your reservation period in the room, please select Reserve one of this Type. You will see the seat added to your cart in the top right corner.
  3. If there is a specific workstation that you would like, click the Specific Items button and select the computer you would like to reserve. Click the Info button next to a station to see what associated peripherals it has.
  4. Once you complete your selections, click the cart icon shoppingcart.png , then Create Reservation.
  5. Review your reservation and select a start and end time -- computer lab reservations via Patron Portal can be borrowed for a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 4 hours. For all other reservations, please contact us directly at 617-824-8080 or via ticket at it.emerson.edu.
  6. Please choose a start and end time that works with your schedule! While we can allow some grace period, arriving on time for your reservation will help us ensure that we maintain low density and sanitation in our lab spaces.
  7. Please review any Resources in red to adjust any conflicts, either picking a different workstation or changing the start and end times of the reservation.
  8. Press Submit Reservation to complete. Your reservation will be auto-approved and a confirmation email will be sent to you. 

Editing a Reservation

  1. Log into the WebCheckout Patron Portal
  2. Click the Menu icon menuicon.png in the top left corner and select My Account from the dropdown menu.
  3. On this page, you will see listed your Reservations, Current Checkouts, and History.
  4. You can only edit the bookings under My Reservation -- click on the line of the reservation you would like to edit.
  5. A new window will appear to show the detail of that reservation; select the Edit Reservation button on this window to make changes.
  6. Review and adjust the reservation, and Confirm any changes when you're done. You will also have the choice to Cancel Edits or Save for Later.

Cancelling a Reservation

  1. Log into the WebCheckout Patron Portal
  2. Click the Menu icon menuicon.png in the top left corner and select My Account from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click on the line of the reservation you would like to cancel.
  4. Select the Cancel Reservation button, and confirm this choice in the second popup window to complete.
  5. A prompt will appear to confirm you are done, and the reservation will be removed from My Account page.
