Staff: Upload Videos to Panopto

If you wish to upload an existing video to Panopto for personal use or for sharing with specific clients (for example, if you're a tutor who wants to upload a recording of a student's presentation and then share it with the student), use the following process.

This guide describes how to upload via the Panopto web portal (, rather than via Canvas. For uploading via Canvas, see this guide.

  1. Go to and log in with your Emerson credentials.

You can use the Browse button in the left hand menu to navigate through your Panopto folders. Click Browse to expand the folder panel, then click a folder's name to view its contents.

Find My Folder (or the folder ITG created for you, if applicable) and click on it.

The Browse button in the Panopto Web Portal.

  2. Once inside, click on the purple Create button and select Upload media.

The Create button and Upload media option in the Panopto Web Portal.

  3. You'll be prompted to upload a video. Once the video has finished uploading and is processing, you may close the upload window. Your video will appear in the Panopto folder that's open in your browser.

All videos uploaded to Panopto must be compressed for streaming (H.264/MP4).

That's it! You can now share your video with others if you so choose.
