Box Drive

While Emerson IT recommends using the web interface exclusively for Box, we recommend Box Drive for those who require a desktop workflow for their files. Unlike Box Sync, Box Drive mounts Box like a network drive to your computer and gives you access to all of your Box files at once, only locally caching those that you frequently access.

Box Sync and Box Drive can NOT be install on the same system. Make sure to uninstall Box Sync before installing Box Drive.

Note: If you have ExpanDrive installed, please uninstall it. Box Drive duplicates all features of ExpanDrive. For uninstall instructions, visit https://www.expandrive.com/docs/uninstall/.

Note: On November 12, 2018, Box Sync will stop working for users who have an old version installed. Box asks that those users uninstall Box Sync and install Box Drive in its place, as they are deprecating Box Sync. The instructions below detail how to uninstall Box Sync.

Windows

Please note that Box Drive is not available for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

1. Download the Box Drive installer from https://www.box.com/resources/downloads/drive and double click it. If you receive an alert noting you have Box Sync installed, cancel and follow steps 2 and 3. If you do not receive that alert, skip to step 4.
