Setting Up a Zoom Meeting

Open the Zoom App and sign in. The Home page will then open.

  • Start With Video
    • Start a Zoom meeting with video as a host.
    • Select an audio conference option:
      • Choose Join Audio by Computer to connect your computers mic and speakers to the Zoom Meeting. You can test you Audio sources by using the Test Computer Audio link when joining.
      • Choose Phone Call and dial the number provided. Enter in the Meeting ID and make sure to input the Participant ID.
      • Clicking on the Mic icon will let you mute and unmute your audio once connected.
  • Start Without Video
    • Start a Zoom meeting without video as a host -- instead, you can share your desktop screen, an application window, or start the call with audio only.
    • Select an audio conference option:
      • Choose Join Audio by Computer to connect your computers mic and speakers to the Zoom Meeting. You can test you Audio sources by using the Test Computer Audio link when joining.
      • Choose Phone Call and dial the number provided. Enter in the Meeting ID and make sure to input the Participant ID
      • Clicking on the Mic icon will let you mute and unmute your audio once connected
  • Join
    • Join an existing meeting as a participant.
    • Select an audio conference option: computer audio (mic/speaker) is the default, but you can also use a phone to call in, using the phone number provided.
  •  Schedule
    • Schedule a Zoom meeting for the future.
  •  Share Screen
    • Start a Zoom meeting with only your shared screen, no video. You can choose to share your whole screen or just a single app window.

Other Tabs in the Zoom app

Meetings

Here you can set up future Zoom meetings and send invites to participants, using either a generic meeting setup or your unique personal meeting ID (PMI). You can also see the recordings you’ve made of past Zoom meetings.

Contacts

Here you can add other Zoom users as contacts by sending them a ‘friend’ request by email. You can also join, create and manage Groups in this section.

Chats

Here you can start chat conversations, as well as see your chat history with individual members and groups.
